KAULBACK, Ronald John Henry, OBE 1946; publican; b 23 July 1909; er s of late Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Albert Kaulback, OBE, and Alice Mary d of late Rev A J Townend, CF; m 1940, Audrey Elizabeth, 3rd d of late Major H R M Howard-Sneyd, OBE; two s two d. Educ: Rugby; Pembroke College, Cambridge. In 1933 journeyed through Assam and Eastern Tibet with Kingdon Ward; returned to Tibet 1935, accompanied by John Hanbury-Tracy, spending eighteen months there in an attempt to discover source of Salween River; 1938 spent eighteen months in Upper Burma hunting and collecting zoological specimens for the British Museum (Natural History); Murchison Grant of Royal Geog Soc, 1937.
