Sylvia Craver, staff member of the Public Relations Department at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, uses a Robotyper. NCBH purchased three of these new devices in 1958. The brain of a robotyper was actually a roll of perforated paper. To make a master roll for a letter, the operator simply typed the letter as he/she normally would on a special perforating machine with a standard keyboard. A perforated paper roll was then placed in the robotyper machine to type out as many originals as the operator wants.
