About Frances Waddell
My mother, Phyllis Stewart-Smith, and Hannah Waddell were near-neighbours in Weybridge, Surrey in World War II. Hannah's children were Walter in a Reserved Occupation (armaments, aeroplanes, ammunition etc), Sandy in the Army, Jane in the WAAF, Frances in the ATS. (I joined the WAAF in 1944). After the war Frances and I kept in touch and she was god-mother to my daughter Frances.
