HULL ARTILLERY VOLUNTEERS
------------
RUMOURS OF ALLEGATIONS
------------
All who wish that the cause of the Volunteers should prosper in Hull will regret the fact that for some time past there has been an unpleasant feeling existing amongst certain of the officers of the 4th East York Artillery Volunteers.
The untiring energy of Lieut Colonel Humphrey, it must be admitted, has its own reward in the success of the Hull Artillery Corps; and the reception which was accorded him on Monday night, as contrasted with the vigorous groans and hisses with which the name of Lieut Colonel Saner was received, will readily convince impartial minds that Colonel Humphrey is properly regarded as the only head of the corps.
We will not at present dwell on the petty bickerings that have been going on in the regiment during the past few months, but simply content ourselves with saying that if its prestige is to be maintained, and we know of no officer who can maintain it so well as Lieutenant Colonel Humphrey, there must be a return to that strict discipline, without which no volunteer corps can exist, or has a right to exist.
