The Morrow Connection

The Morrows were very probably a well-to-do Haligonian (or at least Nova Scotian) family of good social standing, but from our point of view (as I have to draw a line somewhere) I've only investigated them as far as the marriages of their two eldest daughters into the immensely prosperous Stairs dynasty.

As was the custom in those days, they both produced huge families – thirteen offspring in Susanna Morrow's case, who nevertheless lived on to very nearly 84. But poor Mary Morrow died at the age of just 42, three days after giving birth to her eleventh child, Henry Bertram Stairs.

Indeed her own mother had died just 2 months past her 39th birthday after producing nine children in 16 years.
