Thank you so much for that document (by the way, was Hasja Feiga the original name for Fenja, or an Estonian equivalent?).

My mother subtracted 8 years from her age when applying for jobs in later life, and when she remarried. As you say, these things do come back to bite the falsifier!

We must remember several things about Bill's account of the Beltschikovs - Bill wasn't Jewish himself and probably didn't know very much about Jewish customs, traditions or history (though he had travelled extensively, and worked, in the Middle East, it was mostly in the Muslim regions), the internet didn't yet exist, and he was reliant on Fenja for the truth or otherwise of what he wrote about her. I think he would readily defer to your greater knowledge of much of what he says, and in due course I would very much like to attach your comments to his online version.
