Restlessness
I will seek restlessness,
And let it bear me where it will.
I will ride upon the dusty whirlwind
Of discontent,
And rest, and sleep,
And calm, delicious languor
Shall hold me not.
I will burst their bonds
And flee,
Ride forth into the desert
Of wild, arid imaginings;
Stride through the cool oasis
Of smug, self-satisfaction;
And scale the searing rocks,
The jagged peaks
Of discipline.
It is a long way still to go,
Towards the shining goal of everlasting peace.
But I will turn my face towards the goal,
And falter not, no dally by the way.
I will seek restlessness,
And make it bear me where I will.
